Siem Reap is temple town, most people come to explore the temples during the day. If you still have enough energy left, there are plenty of things to keep you entertained in the evening time. It's not just all temples, there's also the nightlife to enjoy in Siem Reap.
Go Shopping in the Night Market
There are now many night markets in town. The most popular one is the original night market located just a short walk from the Pub Street area. However, there are 4 or 5 night markets withing walking distance of the Pub Street area. There are also a few more located a little further away from the town and are also very popular.
Most of the night markets are designed for tourists to buy locally produced gifts and souvenirs. You can by statues, scarfs, clothes, jewellery and many other things.
Party on Pub Street
If you're looking for a party in Siem Reap, then there is usually one on Pub Street. If you're just out for a couple of drinks or you want to dance the night away until 2 o'clock in the morning, then you'll usually find something suitable around the Pub Street area. There are other popular areas for bars and restaurants including along Sivutha Road, Sok San Road, and Wat Bo street.
Every night, you'll see the bars around Siem Reap start to fill up and many visitors will enjoy a drink or two. Some popular drinking establishments along Pub Street include the famous Angkor What? Bar and Temple Bar. Both are open to late in the morning and sell cheap beer. A perfect combination for anyone who loves a good party!
Party on Khmer Pub Street
There is another area in Siem Reap which people have begun to call Khmer pub street. Just behind the Angkor National Museum, there is a street full of beer gardens. A beer garden is where most locals will go to enjoy themselves. Most have live entertainment, serve food, and cheap towers of beer.
You'll find that it's usually much cheaper than tourist orientated businesses and just as much fun because you can experience a drinks and meal with the local population.
Traditional Dance Show
There are many venues in Siem Reap which offer a traditional dance show. Cambodia is famous for the Apsara dance show which represents the Apsaras (celestial beings) from the Angkor times. There are many dances during one performance and you have a range of options.
One popular place for a traditional Dance show is Kulen Restaurant which is located on the main Sivutha Boulevard. Here you can enjoy watching a traditional Apsara dance show and eat a buffet dinner serving a range of Khmer and international cuisine.
Go and Watch a Movie
Siem Reap has an international standard cinema showing all the latest movies. If there's something coming out which you just can't miss, then you can get you fix at the cinema nearby the Old Market.
You don't need to worry about things to do in Siem Reap in the evening. There are many places to go and many things to see in town and not just the temples at Angkor. Siem Reap has grown into a fully-fledged tourist town and each night there are many things to experience.
